The Grade 9 Mathematics course is a foundation course that prepares students for the Mathematics Pathways for Grades 10-12 (Pre-Calculus Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Essential Mathematics).
Students will build on their understanding of math learned from Kindergarten to Grade 8, to build confidence and cement understanding of mathematical concepts under the umbrella of the four following strands:
Numbers
Patterns and Relations
Shape and Space
Statistics and Probability

I am always available for questions, conversation, or updates on your child's progress.
I look forward to talking with you, and engaging in the learning process with your child this year.

I Wonder?....
(An Open Math Challenge for Parents to work through with their Children)
Parents, have fun helping your child cement their understanding of Order of Operations (BEDMAS), and work through this Math Challenge together:

Using any combination of the numbers 2, 3 and 6, and any combination of elementary operations (adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing), how many DIFFERENT SOLUTIONS can I find?
Two Guidelines:
1) Remember to use the rules of BEDMAS (Order of Operations).
2) You can only use each number once per expression.

Examples:
2 x 6 = 12
OR
(6 + 2) x 3 = 24
OR
6 + 2 x 3 = 12
What's Coming Up....
The first Quiz Date is this Friday, September 17, for all Grade 9 classes taught by Mr. Critchlow.

All students have a review they can practice with for understanding.
